ORDER:

The following notification shall be published in the official Gazette.

NOTIFICATION

          WHEREAS, the Government of India in the Ministry of Commerce have decided that an Empowered Committee for Export Promotion may be constituted in each State to address the following issues.

1.      Infrastructure issues and necessary coordination

2.      Issues pertaining to regulatory environment-whether with reference to State Government or Government of India.

3.      Monitor the export performance of the State

4.      Monitor the preparation, approval and implementation of development plans for export centre of the State.

5.      Review of action taken on issues addressed to Government of India.

2.                  NOW THEREFORE, the Lieutenant Governor of Pondicherry, is pleased Constitute an Empowered Committee for Export Promotion as follows:-

3.       The Committee will address the issues as stated in para 1 relating to Export Promotion in the Union Territory of Pondicherry.  In addition, the Committee will scrutinize and approve specific projects and oversee the implementation under the Assistance to State for infrastructure Development for Export and Allied Activities (ASIDE) scheme of the Government of India.  The Convenor, State Level Export Promotion Committee (SLEPC) is designated as Export Commissioner and the Department of Commerce will interact with him on the issues pertaining to ASIDE.  The Convenor shall draw up 5 years and annual export plan for the State/Union Territory in consultation with Trade and Industry, Export Promotion Councils and the Department of Commerce.  A shelf of location specific projects shall also be drawn up for implementation under ASIDE scheme and approval of SLEPC obtained.  The SLEPC will draw a list of sectors to be focused for developing export infrastructure over the next two or three years and a shelf of projects will be kept in readiness to take full advantage of the scheme each year.  On approval of the proposal by the SLEPC funds will be dispersed to the implementing agency.

4.       The Committee shall meet once in a quarter or as may be considered necessary by the Chairman.
